This is a dynamite little place and one of the closest restaurants to Hidden Gardens. the Foxy Brown is a great place to unwind, have a nice glass of wine and grab a bite to eat. Make sure to walk over early though, the secret is out...
According to tripadvisor, the ...Read Full Post »

I just went to Chima for the first time a few weeks ago. I'd heard about it, but the opportunity arose, with some friends who were game, so we went. First I have to say, Chima is a restaurant experience, not merely a place to eat. Having said that, it is also one of the most beautiful and elegant restauraunts in Fort Lauderdale.

Yes, we have 24hr. Walgreens and 7-11's close by, but the very closest place (just two blocks away) to get that last minute item is 'The Tiny Little Tea Leaf'. This is a real 'Mom and Pop' convenience store, just round the corner, owned and operated by Ruth and John. Great if you want to pop-out quickly for a bottle of wine, beer or soda. Not only that, they have a little deli for fresh sandwiches and daily hot soups. (my fa...Read Full Post »

The Fresh Market is a newer supermarket to Fort Lauderdale and I have to say, I find myself going there more and more. It's very clean and well organized, but what really sets it apart is the excellent selection of prepared meals. Always 10 different freshly made salads ready to go, fresh sushi, fresh bread and meats and a huge buffet of prepared warm dishes for ...Read Full Post »

Sushi has come a long way since a slice of raw fish was draped over a bit of wasabi and a ball of sticky rice. If you love Sushi like me and want to be completely blown away by the imagination of a sushi chef,
Sushi Rock is for you.
It is typically crowded and the tables are very close together, but...Read Full Post »

I love delivery. If I'm exhausted and get to sit down to a 5 star meal, while flicking through the TV channels, and not hashing out a meal in the kitchen... I feel I've cheated the system somehow and won. It is a guilty pleasure for sure. Delivery Dudes have picked up on this sentiment, so now I can eat out just about anywhere and never le...Read Full Post »

Ok, ok, we have two Starbucks within close proximity, so don't panic. One to the northeast across the street from the Galleria Mall on East Sunrise Blvd and the other is to the southwest, on the corner of Federal Hwy and Broward Blvd. I'd go to the one up on E Sunrise because there's lots of parking up there and not much at the Broward/Federal shop. Ok, all better now? phew.

Nothing accompanies the Florida sun like an ice cream cone and Kilwins has got you covered. Take a stroll from Hidden Gardens down to Las Olas Blvd, be convinced you've earned a special treat, and walk into this amazing chocolate shop. If you're anything like me, you won't be able to leave empty handed. Homemade confectionaries and some really, really good ice cream.... jus...Read Full Post »

I am NOT a vegetarian. I tried it once, but, well, I missed a juicy steak. I went to Sublime, begrudgingly, for a birthday party dinner. It's not that I'm against healthy eating, it just seems so much 'health food' out there decidedly chooses nutrition over taste. I've also noticed, I can create a totally tasteless meal all on my own. So when I...Read Full Post »

Dining-out for a newcomer to Fort Lauderdale can be tough. With so many choices and our beach style strip malls, sometimes it can be difficult to identify a good restaurant merely by sight. This is where the advice of a local comes in handy. Cafe Vico is just such a spot. You might drive by it a million times and not take much notice, but this restaurant is worth in...Read Full Post »

I think Sage is best described as a 'Country French Restaurant'. It has that French cafe feeling, they hold wine tastings every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month and the service is classic French- superbe. The fare is comfort food at its best. I'd have nearly anything on the menu, but If you need an idea, try the Roasted Duck or Steak Maurice. mmmm....Feeling risque? Go fo...Read Full Post »

Christina Wan's has been around for a long time, and any restaurant in this town with that much staying power, has got to have something special. Loved by locals and tourists alike, Christina Wan's is sure to please from outstanding service to exceptional cuisine. I did the legwork and after extensive testing, I've narrowed the choices down to one. The best place to get a pizza delivered to Hidden Gardens is... Giogio's Brick Oven Pizza.
Glad to say these guys do it right, so I've popped a take-out/delivery menu in the kitchen drawers,...Read Full Post »

Tijuana Flats is a funky, Tex-Mex burrito and taco restaurant. The food takes about the same amount of time to arrive as the Arbys or Burger King just down the street, costs about the same, but it's probably healthier for you and definitely tastes better.
There are a few al fresco tables if you...Read Full Post »

Being a local, you get to know a few places. Croissan'Time has been my favorite cafe-bakery, very close to Hidden Gardens, for a very, very long time. Showcasing international foods, gourmet-pastries, fresh bread and the best croissants anywhere bar none, this place can make a Sunday morning breakfast feel like a special treat.
